ANDY WOLF Launches New Detailed Metal Eyewear Concept
Austrian independent eyewear brand ANDY WOLF launches its new metal eyewear concept for the Autumn/Winter 2022/23 season. The collection launches with five optical and two sunglasses. Each of the featherweight frames is crafted by experienced hands in the brand’s own manufactories in Austria and France. The sun models are equipped with high-quality ZEISS sun lenses that offer 100% UVA and UVB protection.
With the new P22 collection, ANDY WOLF’s Creative Team has taken its metal eyewear collection to a new level. Five optical and two sun models shine with diverse details. The distinct design language is simply inspired by the letters A and W – resulting in an abstracted shingle shape (compound shape of semicircle and rectangle). The shingle element is found in many details of the glasses, sometimes hidden, sometimes obviously staged.
The specially developed pattern wire of the new glasses is particularly striking. It hides within itself the letters A and W in an endless sequence, causing the frame rim to shimmer in delicate light reflections. The same design language underlies the new jaw-hinge solution, which forms the end of the front with complete simplicity and elegance. Instead of conventional metal temples, delicate acetate sleeves – with a shingle-shaped facet at the temple end – adorn the P22 models. For ANDY WOLF, this not only means the perfect interplay of both manufacturers but also allows a subtle play with color and pattern, which in their daintiness, however, never appear obtrusive. As another detail, especially for the eyeglass wearer, each P22 frame has personalized nose pads – a sample piece is hidden there as well.
The optical P22 collection consists of a feminine, oversized vintage frame 4786, which as a special feature has temples set at the bottom that swings upwards in a well-formed way. Its masculine partner 4787 is a slim, rectangular retro frame with angled corner details. The classic panto frames 4788 and 4789 and the round 4790 complete the optical P22 quintet.
P22 also sets fine, well-chosen color accents for the coming season: the trend color Digital Lavender and Jade Green are highlights that freshen up otherwise classic color choices like black, rose gold, and taupe. Color is used boldly in the sun models, for example with a red-on-red version of the almond-shaped Yarrow and gaudy gradient lenses in the Aviator unisex frame Chervil.
Yarrow and Chervil tie in with the Grow With Us concept in their choice of name – since the beginning of 2022, every purchase of an ANDY WOLF pair of glasses has resulted in a square meter of wildflower meadow in Austria being recultivated and tended.
