BTA Facebook Community Rules

The aim of the British Tinnitus Association Facebook page is to provide a helpful, informative, supportive and friendly community for people affected by tinnitus or for those who want to find out more about tinnitus and related conditions, and the work of the BTA.

We have drawn up a few community rules for your safety, and to keep our BTA communities a healthy and constructive environment for discussion, advice and support.

USERS

Users of the British Tinnitus Association Facebook page should be over 16 years of age. If you are under 16, please get your parent/guardian to contact our Communications Manager on 0114 250 9933 or [email protected] to give permission.

Users are expected to abide by Facebook’s “real names” policy. Fake accounts, particularly those created for the intention of spamming, trolling or otherwise disrupting the community will be blocked and reported.

As with all online accounts, please keep your log in details and password secure and confidential.

RULES

By using the British Tinnitus Association Facebook page, you agree to post information drawn from your own personal experience. Members – including BTA staff or volunteers – posting and/or answering questions here should not be assumed to be health professionals.

Please don’t:

Post anything that is in any way offensive, harmful, unpleasant, inappropriate, threatening, fraudulent, defamatory, abusive, discriminatory, false, libellous, unreliable, misleading, harassing, intimidating, infringing, obscene or otherwise objectionable.

Post any personal contact information on the site, although you may choose to do so via messaging.

Use this page in an unlawful manner, or in a way which could disable or damage it.

Advertise or promote goods or services for profit.

Post ‘spam’ – i.e. posts containing the same, or similar, message posted multiple times

Users should report any abusive or inappropriate comments to [email protected] or 0114 250 9933.

We reserve the right to remove any posts with we consider to infringe the rules above without warning and the user may be blocked from the page.
