Tinnitus

Campaign Board | British Tinnitus Association

Objectives of the Campaign Board

The Campaign Board aims to support BTA trustees and staff to increase voluntary income by £500,000 for research and bespoke projects over the next two years. These additional funds will enable the BTA to expand our reach and impact to contribute to the vision of ‘A world where no-one suffers from tinnitus’. The board will support this increase in funds by making introductions and connections that contribute to this target.

What we want to achieve

The amount of research data we have about people with tinnitus is actually quite small. This is concerning given that 1 in 8 people across the UK experience tinnitus – over 7 million people. As such, the Campaign Board have two main objectives for the next two years:

  • to raise enough money (over £500k) to support a major research program to create a tinnitus biobank of sufferers and non-sufferers that we can analyse, to provide data to the pharmaceutical companies and health care providers to convince them to take up the cause to find a cure.
  • to increase the awareness of tinnitus and the BTA throughout the UK as well as the services we offer, which includes our content-rich website, helpline and backing for over 100 local support groups.
