As part of the giant SILMO Paris Trade Show, the one event most everyone in optical looks forward to is the coveted SILMO d’Or Awards. The SILMO d’Or awards are the Academy, Tony, and Emmy Awards of eyewear all rolled into one big and very well attended event, This year’s event was not the black tie event of years past in some fancy venue, but like last year, was held on the main stage of SILMO Paris in Hall 6 on Saturday evening, September 24th.
This year, yours truly was invited to join dozens of other esteemed colleagues from around the world to be one of the judges for the SILMO d’Or awards. Meeting for lunch hours before the ceremony, we were invited to look at all the nominated eyewear up close for ourselves before submitting our choices for each category.
