Helpline volunteers

Our national helpline is based in Sheffield and receives over 5,000 calls and 1,000 emails every year from people seeking advice and reassurance about their tinnitus. If you like to help others, are happy to chat on the phone, and have a willingness to learn then this role is for you.

As a helpline volunteer, you will advise callers on how to cope with the effects of tinnitus on their lives and the best ways of accessing support and help quickly. We provide specific helpline training along with ongoing coaching and support to make sure you are ready and able to answer the phone. There may also be the opportunity for you to attend our specialised tinnitus adviser training course, our annual conference, and our tinnitus information days.

Administration volunteers

At the BTA we carry out a number of diverse activities, and these often require a variety of administrative preparation or follow up. The volunteer role might include such things as filling envelopes to advertise our events, preparing packs prior to a training course or updating information on our database.

All staff requests for help from administration volunteers are carefully considered and matched to volunteers who are best suited for the activity. This role will suit anyone looking to develop their administration, communication and organisational skills.
