About the group 

Open to adult tinnitus sufferers from Brighouse, Huddersfield and Halifax.  Facilitated by friendly local audiologist Sally Jackson, the group shares information on tinnitus and gives support to others.  A self-help group for those who would like support to live well with their tinnitus.

Where the group meets

On the corner of King Street and Lawson Road. There is well-lit on-street parking which should be free of charge after 6pm, but please check local signage.

The location is a 3-minute walk from Brighouse bus station and an 8-minute walk from the railway station. 

This is a ground floor location. Please contact the organiser in advance for advice if you are a wheelchair user. 

When the group meets

On the following Mondays, 6:30-8:00pm 
(meetings may be shortened to 1 hour depending on group preference)

    Mindfulness & CBT, special guests, and workshop on our personal experiences of different triggers and self management strategies

    Guest Speakers: Dr James Jackson – Leeds Trinity University on psychological treatments for tinnitus; Rebecca Mulholland on her journey to habituation through mindfulness

  • 4 April – Tinnitus: fast tracking your habituation, Part 1: 

    * what tinnitus is 

    * what tinnitus isn’t

    * hearing loss and tinnitus

    * an introduction to your senses

    * how to turn tinnitus up (and down)

  • 16 May – Tinnitus: fast tracking your habituation, Part 2: 

    * Do not feed the tinnitus!

    * The biological stress response

    * Attention is finite 

    * methods to alleviate tinnitus

  • 27 June
  • 8 August
  • 19 September

Please email before each session to let us know you plan to attend.

The group will cost at least £28 per session to run. There will be a suggested minimum donation to cover base costs, however those in financial hardship will not be required to donate as we do not want to deter anyone from attending if they need support. This will be an honesty based policy and reviewed in the future if needs be.
